从物理性质看，硫在常温下为黄色脆性晶体，存在多种同素异形体，最常见的是正交晶型（α-硫）和单斜晶型（β-硫）。其熔点为115.21°C，沸点444.6°C，不溶于水但可溶于二硫化碳等非极性溶剂（参考：美国化学会资料）。
